Well, kids, the day's finally come. Today, it was announced that Bob Barker would be retiring from "The Price is Right" upon the conclusion of Season 35. No word at this time regarding his replacement.
When I looked at CBS.com, He's retiring in June 2007.
When I looked at CBS.com, He's retiring in June 2007.
Which is the conclusion of Season 35.
The first season of TPiR with host Bob Barker was in 1972.
The NEW Price is Right premiered in 1994 during the 23rd season.
Who will be the next host of TPiR?
When will they modernize the number windows using screens?
I hope they keep the show the same, just with a new host. I think that will give them the best shot in now alienating viewers who were just there for Bob.
The announcer will say a different beginning phrase
i.e. : "Here it comes from CBS Television City in Hollywood!
America's full hour of fantastic prizes!
The 60-minute Price is Right!"
I think they should keep the Bob Barker Studio reference in the opening, but all of the other Barker references in games (Barker's Marker$, Barker's Bargain Bar) and Barker's Beauties, Barker Dollars, etc. should be renamed.
The Barker's Beauties should be renamed the TPiR Models.
But folks, Dave Price will be a new host of TPIR by replacing Bob Barker, and remember "Time may be right for Price".
Uhh, no, Dave Price will NOT be the new host.
John O' Hurley is currently the host of the Family Feud, is he going to host The Price Is Right?
I think they have narrowed the field down to Todd Newton, George Hamilton, and Mark Steines. I don't know if those are the only three, but those are the ones getting the most press about the job right now.
Please let it be Todd Newton.
I am gonna miss Bob, but its for his own good really. I mean how many times in one man's life must he stand next to a housewife trying to guess the price of Pop-Tarts.
I'm rooting personally for Todd Newton, but I don't know if it is really what would be best for the show at this time. I am afraid that a young guy like Todd (who seems relatively unknown outside of the game show world) would alienate the older viewers who watch the show with Bob.
I am kind of thinking that maybe George Hamilton would be the best choice of the three right now, perhaps serving as a "transition" host for 2-3 seasons. Older people know him for his past work and younger people recognize him from the Ritz commercials and Dancing with the Stars. Then after a couple of seasons after the immediacy of Bob leaving subsides, bring in a more "longterm" host like Todd.
